Member Spotlight- Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County and Health E-Quip
Quality of Life is a key focus for Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County. With compassionate staff and friendly volunteers, they strive to minimize pain, manage symptoms with medical care, provide emotional support and offer a warm heart to make a positive difference in the lives of others. During the Chamber Connections hosted by Hospice & HomCare of Reno County and Health-E-Quip, we had the opportunity to meet several staff members who are making a difference. According to Andrea Siefkes, Community Liaison, Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County serves a 50-mile radius including Reno, McPherson, Rice, Harvey and Kingman Counties. Tara Dahlstrom, Business Development/ Ancillary Services Director, said their staff and patrons have grown in this area recently and with that growth, they have expanded their office space within Health-E-Quip, 1318 N. Main in McPherson. Micki Wilson, Volunteer Coordinator, would love to talk to you about volunteering. Although Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County has about 90 volunteers, most of them are in Reno county. Volunteers can be “friendly visitors” sharing a smile, listening ear, or a card playing partner to brighten someone’s day or to relieve caregivers for an hour or two. Volunteers can also help with office support or share their talents of baking, music, sewing or lawn care for patients. Contact Micki at 620-665-2473 to find out more. Donna, Paula, Jennifer, Julie, Dawnelle and Tom also shared information about the services they provide as part of the team of RN’s, case managers, social workers, home healthcare staff and Chaplin. All extremely important roles in improving quality of life for hospice patients and for palliative care.
What is palliative care? Palliative care “is symptom management and comfort care provided at any stage of a serious illness” whereas hospice is for end of life care. Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County offers palliative care to assist those with chronic long term illness. Providing the same great team of experts to improve quality of life at any point in the process, focused on relieving symptoms, pain and stress.
So… you don’t need walkers, wheelchairs or an adjustable bed? What about support stockings, blood pressure monitors, scrubs, braces or supports for that sports injury or light therapy bulbs?
