Member Spotlight- Mt. Hope Sanctuary
Mt. Hope Sanctuary; providing a sanctuary “that offers HOPE (Healing, Opportunity, Peace and Empowerment) to single women (and their children) who are committed to a plan of self-sufficiency.” In following that mission, Mt. Hope Sanctuary offers a life-changing program beginning with an extensive intake process, plan of hope program and even outreach, to provide support after transitioning out of the home.
Julie Holloway, Executive Director said to make sure the women are truly ready in their heart to make changes, Mt. Hope conducts background and drug tests, interviews and other intake criteria. To best serve the women and children, only 4 women (and their children) at a time can live at Mt. Hope Sanctuary.
The house is very structured and self-sufficient where everyone is expected to help maintain the home, attend family style meals and devotionals. House Manager, Kristin Long, is very passionate about Mt. Hope and the joy she receives from serving others is obvious! Kristin shared that supper time is a favorite of hers as it is a time of friendly connections and fosters a family atmosphere of support.
During their stay at Mt. Hope, (which can be as long as they need) the women work through the Plan of Hope Program. This program involves: education/career development, budgeting, social/emotional growth, personal growth and development, physical health and wellness, mental strategies and spiritual application. All very important tools to becoming self-sufficient with a greater self-confidence and greater self-worth. “This translates into a woman experiences true contentment and passion in every area of her life, thus benefiting herself, her children and the community”
Although everyone can make a difference, it takes a community to sustain success! So how can you or your business or organization help?
• Become a Partner of Hope with monthly/yearly giving to help with utility and house maintenance expenses.
• Purchase a Pathway of Hope personalized brick to be placed in the entrance walkway.
• Donate items needed for current house needs.
• Volunteer your time, talents and resources through fundraising events, service projects, lawn care, relief staff and many other ways to make a difference.
• Keep Mt. Hope Sanctuary in your prayers; prayers and encouragement are always appreciated for the families, staff and volunteers.
