Golf Tournament Takes a Fun Twist
Found this fun ticket from 1994, but the first Tartan Turkey Trio Chamber Golf Tournament was actually in 1992. The Trio Included a Friday evening BBQ and a Great Golf Ball Race ($30 per 6-man team), Saturday afternoon hamburger luncheon, and choice to participate in a Bridge Tournament, or the Golf Tournament.
Through the years the “Turkey” logo was modified, and various events were incorporated including a golf ball drop from a tall utility bucket, silent auction, and even a chicken scramble! The Turkey logo disappeared in later years, and the Trio was dropped and simplified to just a golf tournament. The last team to win the Tartan Turkey Golf Tournament Traveling Trophy was Ferguson Production in 2017.
Then we threw out the old traditional golf tournament, including competitive play in 2018, and created the Chamber Classic. This creative un-conventional golf format seems to be a hit, and is scheduled on the first Friday in June. The Chamber Classic 4-person scramble is the perfect way to enjoy an afternoon on the course, and our new theme each year lends to the anticipation of new games, and most importantly lots of laughter! The 2018 “Holes with Personality” included the Happy Gilmore T-Box, Dizzy LuLu, and Duck Duck Goose…. The 2019 “Laughs on the Links” had Flamingo Golf and Beer Goggles, 2020 was “Par-Tee On” with games of Livin’ Large and Letting the Good Times Roll! The 2021 Chamber Classic “This is How We Roll” will be this Friday, but the golf games are still a SECRET!
