Member Spotlight – Enhabit Home Health & Hospice

Brookdale McPherson, 1460 N. Main, opened its doors in welcome as Enhabit Home Health & Hospice hosted the November 21st Chamber Connection there. Enhabit, which has offices in Wichita and Hutchinson, is quickly growing in McPherson and sees a number of patients at Brookdale.

Enhabit expands what’s possible for patient care in the home. Their purpose is “to provide high-quality, compassionate care to every patient wherever they call home.”

Something that makes Enhabit’s hospice services unique, says area manager Kathy Kissane, is that they can offer physical, occupational, and speech therapy because of the home health services they provide. They do wound care and IVs as well. Kissane shared that Dr. VanEaton with the McPherson Center for Health is the medical director working with Enhabit, and they also have a contract for respite and general inpatient care (GIP) out of McPherson Hospital.

Enhabit’s Care Connections Program offers a long-term solution by transitioning patients in a timely manner from curative to comfort care. This program is beneficial for any patient dealing with a chronic illness and being admitted to home health services who:

  • Is not yet appropriate for hospice but could benefit from conversations regarding end-of-life choices
  • Is appropriate for hospice but is not yet willing to forgo aggressive treatment
  • Has maximized their potential and rehab is no longer achievable
  • Has an increased need for additional emotional and spiritual support.

Enhabit and Brookdale McPherson offer a monthly caregiver support group, open to everyone. The next meeting will be December 5th at 2 p.m. at Brookdale McPherson.
