Member Spotlight – Bluestem PACE
You have heard it many times, and most would agree that home is where the heart is. That simple truth is why Bluestem PACE focuses on helping seniors remain safe and independent in their home and community for as long as possible. Since August of 2016 when Bluestem PACE opened its doors at 113 S. Ash in McPherson, they have been providing coordinated and integrated healthcare to seniors. Justin Loewen, Executive Director of Bluestem PACE said they are excited to be a part of the progressive McPherson community and appreciates many of their local partners including the McPherson Hospital.
Bluestem PACE provides care that is a partnership between families and staff and encompasses an entire range of services including complete medical care, therapy, transportation, meals, socialization and much more. Bluestem PACE serves seniors 55 and older who live in their 6 county service area. Fun fact- PACE stands for Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. All-Inclusive means they coordinate all services for you from making appointments, delivering medication and being available for medical questions, 24/7. It also means that the team at Bluestem PACE learns to know each participant and his/her needs by frequent interaction. It includes a “medical tree” of primary medical care, vision and dental care, a dietitian, social workers, medical specialists, physical therapist, wheelchair accessible transportation, medications, memory care, home care and more. All-Inclusive also means more than just medical services, Bluestem PACE is also focused on providing a welcoming environment for seniors to enjoy activities, share a hot meal together and socialize with others.
