Member Spotlight – Central Christian College Dining Hall
Central Christian College of Kansas celebrated the renovation of its dining room, which is located on the second floor of the Broadhurst Student Center, with a Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting. The transformation to the dining room began in May 2024 and was completed just in time for the students, who arrived the second week of August 2024. Talk about a quick turnaround!
Dr. Lenny Favara shared a bit about the renovation of the dining area that went from a kind of “summer camp” type environment to that of a spacious place with plenty of seating, an easy-to-maneuver food line, and a fantastic area of coffees, juices, sodas, and tea.
Looking around the room he said, “As we see, kind of a bit of a facelift. You see the multi-media screens, flexible layouts to support different kinds of events. Just last night there was a big movie event with peanuts and popcorn in here. There’s a grill and action stations for elevated dining experience choices, expanding capacity for dietary needs … It’s kind of just an overall strategy to create a more inviting and multi-use hub for the campus itself.”
The Upper Dining Room provides meals seven days a week. Monday through Friday, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available. On Saturday and Sunday, brunch and dinner are provided and on “no class days” brunch and dinner are served. Family members and off-campus students are also welcome to eat at the Upper Dining Room. The hours that the cafeteria is open can be found on the CCCK website at centralchristian.edu/dining-services-info, where you’ll also find the cost for guests.
If you have dietary restrictions – not to worry! The dining team for the CCCK Upper Dining Room take food allergies and dietary preferences seriously. You’ll be able to dine with confidence knowing that your meal has been prepared with care and safety in mind. When you’re selecting your meal, you’ll see allergy icons on food item identification monitors, which will let you know which food selections may include ingredients that may cause an allergic reaction. And if you’re still in doubt, just ask a server or ask to speak with the chef. They will be happy to help you.
Central Christian College of Kansas has been a part of the McPherson community for 146 years. In just the last few years, CCCK has added an outdoor fitness court as well as a sand volleyball court, both of which are open to the McPherson community. The addition of the newly renovated dining hall in Broadhurst Student Center is also a great benefit, not only for students and faculty but for members of the community as well. (Just check their website for the hours they are open!) There’s ALWAYS something happening on the campus of Central Christian College of Kansas. Next project you ask? Residence Expansion!
