Member Spotlight – Floss & Needle
Not long after Amberle Fowler began stitching on her mother’s lap when she was five years old, she began to dream of having her own cross-stitch shop. September 12th that dream came true when she officially opened the doors of Floss & Needle at 206 S. Centennial Dr. She celebrated with the McPherson Chamber of Commerce by hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on September 15th.
Floss & Needle has everything a cross-stitcher might need, from patterns to fabrics, floss, embroidery hoops, and more. There are patterns suited for beginners and the most experienced of stitchers.
Floss & Needle hosts Stitch Nights on Thursdays until 7 p.m., and the first Saturday of every month from 12 to 4 is a dedicated stitch time as well. People can bring their projects, sit around the table, relax, stitch, and socialize with other stitchers.
Are you a hand crafter but not a stitcher? You’re welcome, too!
“My goal is to have a community of not just stitchers, but all kinds of crafters who come into these doors and feel welcome and at home and just be able to talk with like-minded people and share their joy and excitement for something they’re crafting with their hands,” said Fowler. “Whether you knit or crochet, cross-stitch, bobbin lace, work on miniatures, you’re welcome to sit at my table anytime I’m open.”
Eager to spread the joy of cross-stitch, Fowler plans to host lots of activities and classes, which will be announced on the website and Facebook. Meanwhile, be sure to check out photos from the ribbon cutting, and visit the store when you have the chance!
