Member Spotlight – Krehbiel’s Specialty Meats
Krehbiel’s Specialty Meats is a small family owned USDA processing plant and retail store located right off I-135. It was founded in 1978 by Homer Krehbiel and now 40+ years later his son Jeff is continuing on with the family business. The business has a complete natural food line with a fresh meat market and smokehouse. They’ve been in their new retail space for about 11 months.
Julie Rohret, Krehbiel’s Store Manager shared what kinds of food items are available at the retail store. With the holidays right around the corner, Krehbiel’s Specialty Meats can provide you with a lot of options for your holiday meal planning. They have smoked turkey, hams, amazing prime ribs, and beef tenderloins. They also process and package products made from elk, ostrich, and poultry.
With it being deer season, you only have to look as far as Krehbiel’s to help you when you’re needing to get your deer processed. Jeff Krehbiel said that it wasn’t unusual for them to process 800-900 deer throughout a season. They’ve already processed around 150 this season!
Krehbiel’s Specialty Meats is a great stop if you’re needing help in getting your holiday gift list completed. They have a wide variety of gift items that would please any person on your gift list. It’s as easy as just walking through the store and selecting the things you’d like to put into a gift box and then they will put it together for you. Or if you’d rather, you can choose a gift box that’s already been prepared. Maybe your holiday gift list includes folks out of state. Well, that’s not a problem for Krehbiel’s. They can ship perishable or nonperishable food items anywhere in the country.
If you’re stressing over preparing meals for holiday gatherings, check out Krehbiel’s Specialty Meats. They have cheese and meat trays for your holiday parties and also have cooked products to help you out with your meal planning. One thing you won’t want to forget is to complete your meal with one of the fruit, pumpkin, or pecan pies from Krehbiel’s. “They are frozen, ready to throw into the oven, and go!” said Julie, and she added, “They are fantastic!”
To keep up with the sales and different products available at the store you can sign up for their weekly email. You can also check their Facebook page to see what monthly specials they have going on.
Krehbiel’s also carries a lot of other food items besides the vast variety of meats. “We do try to carry a lot of Kansas made products as you’ll see around the store, as many Kansas made as we can,” said Julie Rohret. As you walk through the store, you’ll see Kansas popcorn, coffees, salsas, jellies & jams, pickles, and raw honey.
