Back in 1968, the City of McPherson and McPherson College joined their artifacts together and displayed them at what was known as the Vanaman House on E. Euclid. This location served as a museum for many years, then property on E. Kansas was donated by The Cedars. The McPherson Museum and Arts Foundation broke ground in 2012, and they officially moved to 1111 E. Kansas on November of 2013. To celebrate their 50th anniversary plus the 5 year “birthday” to the building, a week-long celebration was organized to honor each section of the museum with guest speakers, historical trolley tours and activities for all ages. During the Chamber Connections on Thursday, Director, Anna Ruxlow also highlighted some future events to look forward to. In September, they will continue their Birdseye Tasting Series and feature Scotch. The last two weeks of October will be spooky but hilarious as they host the annual Haunted House fundraiser. December will include an open house & raffle opportunity. If you would like to volunteer, interested in rental options for an event your hosting, shopping for Kansas items or want to explore unique and historical collections, visit the McPherson Museum & Arts Foundation, 1111 E. Kansas or connect with them on Facebook.
