The theme for the 2023 National Library Week is “There’s More to the Story.” AND if you’ve taken the opportunity to visit the McPherson Public Library or have explored their website, you’ll quickly discover that “There’s More to the Story” absolutely describes our library.
Did you know the McPherson Public Library has an Arts After School program which includes writing, drama, cross-stitch, and knitting? That you can check out kids’ toys and games from the library, including parent kits that help Pre-K and Kindergarten-aged kids achieve skills like tying shoes, using zippers and buttons, and sorting. Did you know you can check out Experience Passes to museums, etc. around the state for destination venues like The Cosmosphere and Botanica?
The McPherson Public Library also provides educational series throughout the year. In May, they are hosting a Women’s Health Series. There will be a medical professional each Monday night at 5:30 PM, May 1st-May 22nd who will be speaking about nutrition and other health issues women should be aware of. On June 1st, the summer program at the library will begin. The theme for the program is “All Together Now,” which will focus on kindness and friendship AND will have activities for kids as well as adults.
There are computers available for use at the library for folks who do not have access to one. AND if you don’t have the Internet at your home, you can check out a library hotspot for a week. But there’s SO much more to our library’s story. Did you know that the McPherson Public Library has telescopes that can be checked out (by an adult) for a week at a time? And that the library has a FAX machine as well as copiers that are available for public use?
