Member Spotlight – Stitches Quilt Shop
Quilting is an art. It begins with finding just the right fabric in the exact color and pattern, next cutting the fabric into the right shapes and sizes, then joining together those many pieces in just the right configuration, and in the end, creating a beautiful piece of art. For those quilting artists out there, visiting Stitches Quilt Shop, located at 102 S. Main, to get just the right fabric for your next project is a must! Owner Kaylan Prieb and her staff can assist you in getting just that right fabric that you’re looking for to make your project perfect.
If you are a novice at quilting or maybe just want to learn more and sharpen your skills while creating quilted art, Stitches Quilt Shop is a great resource for you. They offer beginner sewing, piecing, and quilting classes and can help guide you on this creative and fun journey. Stitches has an event space in their shop where classes are held.
And about those quilting classes at Stitches Quilt Shop, Kaylan said, “We have an Open Sew every Wednesday from 9:30 ’til 3:30 so if you’re wanting to learn to quilt, come join us! We’ve got room for eight in the classroom. Also, on the first Thursday of every month I have a meeting called Friendship Quilters, where I showcase what’s new in the shop – new fabric, new notions, and also do a little teaching time. There’s also a show and tell. There’s two meetings, one at 10:30 in the morning and one at 5:30. Free coffee and cookies. Come check it out!”

If you have lots of old t-shirts hanging in your closet that have seen their better days, but they hold too many great memories, and you just can’t get rid of them … here’s the answer. A patchwork t-shirt quilt! At Stitches Quilt Shop you’ll find books to help you make those t-shirts into a really fun quilt that you can actually use and still keep the memories of all of those fun times they represent. And to help make that happen, Stitches has the sewing notions you will need to create that t-shirt quilt – like needles, rotary blades, backing for the t-shirt pieces, and more.
Not only does Stitches have a great variety of fabrics to choose from for a project that you might have already in mind, but they also have over 20 quilt kits on hand if you’re needing some inspiration. Bonus – they also have a finished piece on display of the kit so you can see what it will look like when it’s completed! About the completed quilt samples you’ll find displayed in the store Kaylan said, “We have samples for all of the kits that we have in stock, and we make those in-house here. The quilts you see on the wall around here, the last time I counted there’s nine different ladies that have made the quilts that you see on the walls around here. So, a really good quilting community around here.”
