Member Spotlight – Plastics Extrusion Machinery
Plastics Extrusion Machinery (PEM) and Mahaska teamed up to co-host the May 23rd Chamber Connection at PEM’s facilities at 2475 Northview Rd.
PEM is one of the leading manufacturers of downstream extrusion equipment in the PVC pipe and custom profile industries in the United States.
When Nathan Spearman bought PEM in 2017, there were just 17 employees. Since then, it has expanded to nearly 100 and continues to grow.
“If you’re looking for a job, you need to come talk to us,” Spearman said. “If you ever want to have three-day weekends for the rest of your life, we can probably hook you up.”
PEM believes that people are the greatest and most overlooked asset of any organization. When adding to their team, they look beyond what’s on paper and consider all aspects of the person.
“Here at PEM, we live and die by our core values,” said Spearman. “We hire by them, we fire by them, we try to do everything we can to enhance that.”
Those core values are displayed in the hallway, every conference room, and the break room to make sure they stay front of mind for employees. They are faith, people, the unvarnished truth, trust, humility, excellence, and service.
