Agriculture Committee Awards Scholarships
The McPherson Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee has been committed to keeping the education of agriculture in the forefront. The Ag Committee has partnered with Agriculture Future of America to encourage young men and women to attend college and pursue an education in agriculture and food sciences. Several initiatives and events the Ag Committee hosts are: Rural Appreciation Hamburger Feed in cooperation with the 4-H Fair; Farm Forum; When Pigs Fly BBQ Contest & Fly In and Ag in the Classroom, a partnership with the K-State Extension & Research.
Congratulations to the following students:
Jacob Daily (Canton/Galva) and Danielle Gieselman (McPherson) both received the $4,200 Agriculture Future of America Scholarship. These are funded through county-wide donations, proceeds from Farm Forum and When Pigs Fly BBQ Contest & Fly In as well as a $1,600 Academic Scholarship match from AFA and $500 Leadership Conference match from AFA)
Kristen Knackstedt (Inman) received the $500 Bornholdt Family Farms Scholarship, $500 AFA Leadership conference match and the $500 Marvin & Mary Beth Goering Academic Scholarship
Trenton Goering (McPherson) was awarded the $500 DVT Farms Academic Scholarship in memory of Darrell & Lucille Thompson.
