Chamber’s Ag Committee Announces 2024 Agriculture Future of America (AFA) Scholarship Recipients
Congratulations to Inman High School graduate Jacob Eck, who has been awarded the 2024 Agriculture Future of America (AFA) Scholarship for McPherson County.
This scholarship is made possible by the McPherson Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee in partnership with Agriculture Future of America (AFA). The Agriculture Committee has raised funds to support the local scholarship since 2000 and, along with establishing an AFA scholarship fund at the McPherson County Community Foundation, has awarded 36 full scholarships to date. These scholarships are awarded to high school graduates or college undergraduates pursuing a four-year degree in agriculture and related programs.
Jacob, who is off to Fort Hays University, will receive a $3,200 academic scholarship to be used for tuition, fees, and books in addition to his tuition to the AFA Leaders Conference November 7-10, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri, an additional value of $1,250.
The conference will also be attended by Kansas State University sophomore Sage Toews, a Canton-Galva graduate, thanks to a scholarship valued at $1,250 by the McPherson Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee and AFA.
AFA Leaders Conference is a premier leader development experience bridging the gap between college and career for undergraduate students studying food and agriculture. This experience will allow Jacob and Sage to enhance their skills in areas including relationship development, systems thinking, collaboration, cultural EQ, interpersonal EQ, and career management.
Jacob and Sage are both hardworking examples of why the McPherson Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee continues to partner with AFA to build transformational leaders in agriculture. More information about AFA can be found at www.agfuture.org.
