Grow Your Future in Ag: AFA Scholarship
Do you know a student who’s ready to grow their future in ag? The McPherson Chamber of Commerce AFA Scholarship is an excellent opportunity for those pursuing careers in agriculture, food, or related fields.
Any high school senior residing in McPherson County or attending a high school within McPherson County. College students who graduated from a high school in McPherson County or whose home address is in McPherson County and have not received the AFA McPherson County Scholarship in previous years are also eligible.
This scholarship is more than just financial support—it’s also an entry point to the AFA Leaders Conference, where students will develop leadership skills, gain valuable industry insights, and build lifelong connections with peers and professionals.
Established in 2001 by the McPherson Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee, the Agriculture Future of America (AFA) Scholarship has helped local students advance their education and career paths. To date, we’ve awarded 35 comprehensive academic and leadership development scholarships, along with 13 leadership conference only scholarships. The full scholarship is valued at $4,450 and includes a $3,200 academic award and tuition for the AFA Leaders Conference.
Scholars are selected based on their career aspirations, leadership potential, community involvement, and financial need. Applicants must be between 17 and 25 years old, planning to pursue a four-year degree in food, agriculture, and/or natural resources. A GPA of 2.5 or higher is recommended.
Scholarship recipients are required to attend the AFA Leaders Conference, held November 6-9, 2025, in Kansas City, and must maintain full-time enrollment and good academic standing to retain the scholarship. Previous recipients are ineligible.
We encourage you to share this opportunity with eligible students and inspire them to apply. The application can be found at www.agfuture.org/scholarships, with a submission deadline of March 5, 2025.
