Meet the New Executive Assistant

Meet the New Executive Assistant

Cindy Shirley was born in Osborne, KS; and was raised in rural NW Kansas, Norton, and recently moved August 7th to McPherson, from Oberlin, KS where she has resided for the past 15 years. Cindy considers herself as very outgoing, driven, makes friends easily, likes to have fun and be around positive people.

Cindy moved to be closer to her only daughter and son-in-law. They reside in Canton, KS. Just recently, Cindy found out that she will be a first time Grandmother and is super excited to meet Baby J. in February 2023, in which she cannot wait to snuggle and spoil!!

Various secretarial settings in the last 30+ years has made Cindy a well-rounded and diverse person in many facets of offices/businesses. Upon high school graduation, Cindy attended Colby Community College (CCC) for Secretarial Science, then later in life she took CNA classes and Massage Therapy classes through CCC and has recently taken on-line classes through FHSU to continue her education. She believes that you are NEVER to old to keep on learning. Education became a part of her life as she has taught Pre-School for two & three year old’s, Paraeducator, Sub Paraeducator, Substitute teaching, and Spanish Proctor for 69 students. She is a teacher by nature. Her love of being able to help people, watch people succeed and grow is something she is very passionate about. With the need to help people, Cindy is a Certified Massage Therapist and was a previous business owner from 2016-2021, however due to a horse accident, that has halted the massage business at this time.

Being a country-farm girl from a small-town agriculture community, Cindy had previously been involved in a large farming operation with her husband at the time, and her Grandparents (deceased) operated a very small farming operation while she was growing up, therefore she has knowledge of agriculture and is a huge advocate for agriculture. Cindy has attended farm and ranch conferences, meetings for women involved in the Ag industry. She also has attended several Ag in the Classroom meetings. With that said, she was excited to learn that the Chamber has an Ag Committee.

In her spare time, Cindy enjoys spending time with family, friends, and loves shopping. The only animals Cindy (since downsizing) has now, are her two dogs and one cat (whom said she would NEVER have a pet cat, just farm cats), previously has owned four miniature horses and a few Quarter horses. She loves being in nature and exploring, loves going to the lake, camping, traveling, and crafting in her spare time. Right now, she is anxious to get settled in her new home, learn all about the McPherson Chamber of Commerce, making new friends, and getting familiar with the community and surrounding areas. She feels that the Executive Assistant position at the Chamber of Commerce is a very good fit for her.  ~Welcome to the Chamber office Cindy!
